Most of our veg are field grown summer, winter and year round varieties. These are sold for local consumption, and the promotion of home grown organic produce. However, some of our veg and all herbs, are grown in tunnels for high value retail sales (profitability). Our fruit trees provide our favourite in season treats!
All crops are selected and grown based on a food security and profitability model. We must grow for ourselves, but also for others, and this must be done in a way that adds value to both consumer and producer.
Our field vegetable growing plan constitutes a 4 summer, 4 winter and 4 perenial crop rotation model. These veges are grown organically, and all for farm gate and local market sales. Certain crops are also processed for value add and longetivity purposes.
Tomatoes, peppers and herbs are ideally grown as high value contract crops. The tunnels afford increased protection from the elements, as well as extending the summer growing season by up to 2 months.
A selection of favourite fruit trees will be grown and harvested for local consumption and supply, as well processing and preserving purposes.
